Welcome to the
Christian Theatre Network.

Inside we trust you’ll find information you can use to stimulate your artistic ministry.

The Christian Theatre Network exists to assist

communication among Believing artists in church ministry and in professional theatre. What you offer to share is as important as what we cull in our research. We continue to encourage you to submit your items for publication – upcoming plays, workshops, and projects – as well as your website link. Most of all, talk to your pastoral staff about CTN, and encourage pastors to take advantage of the resources available. Tell us, too, of your thoughts and ideas about issues and trends in our culture that affect and reflect the influence of Christ in media.

While touring our site, please enjoy our newsletter, The Christian Theatre Network Chronicles.

In addition to continuing our regular news and resource features – Touring Ministry Tips, Drama Made a Difference -- this month The Chronicles introduces a new item: Guest Column, reprints of theatre-related writings that have appeared in other media..

As our first offering, we’re honored to provide a BreakPoint commentary by Chuck Colson called “Criticize by Creating,” which aired on his radio program Sept. 25, and which notes “the next Billy Graham may be a playwright.”

We’re also proud to announce a connection with ministries in New York City, and a Guide to 2003 Theatre Conferences. The MEM-o from editor Michael Edgar Myers muses on the impact of having Jesus unexpectedly becoming the topic of a standup comedian’s concert.

On the fun front, we offer a couple of voting options.

One is The CTN Poll which gives readers a chance to vote and comment on issues that appear in our Forum.

The other voting option is a request to Choose Our Site As A Favorite (you’ll notice the polling click in the left-hand margin). We’re not running a race here, but it is a fun link to other Christian sites on various issues. Since we’re based in Chicago, we’d recommend you vote early and often.

The Polling Booth!

We'd like your feedback on these questions. We're not trying to be anarchists, but you have to admit, these questions might be a challenge for all of us from time to time. Your opinion counts even if our poll doesn't.

Should a pastor pre-approve all scenes a drama group considers performing?

Do secular film or theatre critics evaluate Christian-themed productions by a different standard?
